Here is a bit of help understanding stuff.  If none of this makes any sense at all, please contact me, and I will help you.

Quick Assist

Stuck?  Quick Assist is Microsoft's remote assistance app.  It allows me to use your computer from anywhere and help do whatever you need to do.  It's much better than phone instructions.  If you have Windows 10, press the Windows button, then type Quick...  The icon should pop up.    It requires both your permission and my permission to connect each time.

For those of you on Macs, you can click here.  I've never tried it before because I don't have a Mac.  But I would like to know if it works!

Logging In

Your homework and session reports are all on your very own page.  If you forget your page, call, text, or email me.  I'll help you out.

The address (URL) of your page will look something like https://yourname.allanesl.ca/ or https://yourname.allansplace.ca.

*You cannot search for your page on Yahoo!, Google, Duckduckgo, or anywhere else.  Because of privacy, your page is not searchable online.  You must enter it in the address bar of your web browser.

It will ask you for your Username and Password.  If you forget these, contact me.  I'll remind you.

Completing Your Homework on the Computer

Most of your homework assignments are in PDF form (Portable Document Format).  There are a few ways you can use PDFs.  Here are some videos to help you.

To write on your screen and save as on your computer: complete PDF homework save as 20240118 001.mp4  Once completed, see Sending Your Homework below.

To complete your homework on Bramble: completing PDF homework on Bramble 20240118.mp4  Just send me a text at 403-915-8681when you do this so I can look at it.

Completing Your Homework on Paper

If you like to complete your homework on paper, here is how.

Go to your session summary page.  Click your homework.  At the top-right of your screen, you'll see a printer button.    Click it.  Make sure it is set to your printer, not something else (like Microsoft Print to PDF).  Look at all the other settings.  Does everything look right?  Click print.

Now what?  When your homework is completed...

The easiest way is to take a picture and text (MMS) it to me at +1-403-915-8681.

Or you can scan it (if you have an all-in-one printer scanner) and upload it.  See Uploading Your Homework below.

Uploading Your Homework

You can email it.  Go to your session summary page, and click email homework in the menu.  Next, go to the folder with your completed homework and drag & drop it into the email.  Click send.

You can drop it into your myfolder.  See Setup Your myfolder On Your Computer below.

You can drop it into your Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive folder.  See below.

You can upload your homework through the Upload homework page.

You can FTP it.  What is this?  FTP is "File Transfer Protocol".  Download an FTP client here.  Ask me for help if you need it.

Connect to Online Whiteboard (Bramble)

Online tutoring is done on Bramble, a whiteboard website.

Your online session will begin at your normal class time.  If you don't see me there, wait - I'll be there!

If you have trouble with connections, try Are You Ready To Bramble?

Send Homework to Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive

On your class summary page, click either OneDrive or Google Drive.  Another web page will open into your folder.

If you have a Microsoft account (hotmail, Microsoft 365, live, etc.), you'll probably want to use OneDrive.  It will ask you for your
